Dave Burke, un ancien policier renvoyé pour corruption, a l’intention de cambrioler la banque de Melton, dans l’état de New York. Pour mener à bien son forfait, il recrute deux complices : Earle Slater, récemment sorti de prison, et Johnny Ingram, un chanteur noir criblé de dettes. Malgré leur minutieuse préparation, le racisme de Slater fait capoter l’opération.

In need of quick money, a fallen former cop recruits a hard-bitten ex-con and a debt-ridden nightclub singer to pull off a bank job. But as the animosity between them boils over, the entire plan threatens to implode.
