In the rain-soaked streets of Rain City, ex-cop Hawk (played by Kris Kristofferson) emerges from prison into a world of jazz, shadows, and second chances. Reuniting with his former flame Wanda (Geneviève Bujold), Hawk finds himself entangled in the lives of a young couple on the run, a jewel heist gone wrong, and the looming presence of the flamboyant and dangerous crime boss Hilly Blue (Divine, in a rare non-drag role).
Directed by Alan Rudolph, this moody, offbeat noir blends surreal visuals, poetic melancholy, and a haunting score by Marianne Faithfull. With its dreamlike atmosphere and genre-bending tone, Trouble in Mind is a cult gem that defies easy classification—part romance, part noir, part urban fable.
